As requirement of clothing comfort is improved, moisture absorption and dry- fast fabricgets the favour of people more and more. To cater to green textile, natural cellulose fabric hasbecome the focus of comfortable fabric research. Based on the current research on moistureabsorption and dry-fast fabric, the study is developed on bamboo pulp fiber. The purpose ofthis thesis is to study the influences and practicability of water absorbing and releasingbehaviour in fabric after fiber’s water repellency treatment.The processing of bamboo pulp fiber water repellency treatment is developed in twoaspects: concentration and time. The performance evaluation of fiber is carried out onmoisture regain, drip diffusion time, wicking height, water absorption and releasingbehaviour. The results revealed that the concentration and time has little effects on fiber waterrepellency. After water repellency treatment, bamboo pulp fiber gain good waterproofproperty on fiber surface, but little effects in fiber interior. Modified bamboo pulp fiberalmost has no wicking height while bamboo pulp fiber has about 1.8cm. On the other side,the moisture regain of modified fiber has 2% less than original fiber. But the modified fiberhas more moisture releasing behaviour. So, modified fiber can do water absorption and watertransfer in interior, waterproof on surface under liquid water. The analysis shows that the bestwaterproof treatment is under concentration of 20g/L and dealing with 30min.Using the modified bamboo fiber spinning with bamboo pulp fiber, ramie and polyesterfiber respectively, do some study on blended yarns, including the moisture content, wickingheight, drop time, moisture absorption and releasing. The blended yarns have little differencein moisture absorption, the relation of three yarns is modified bamboo/ramie yarns >modified bamboo/bamboo yarns > modified bamboo/polyester yarns in moisture absorptionand modified bamboo/polyester yarns > modified bamboo/bamboo yarns > modifiedbamboo/ramie yarns in moisture releasing. All of the yarns has no wicking height and dripdiffusion. Based on the data, the moisture absorption and releasing of blended yarns isdecided by the ratio and materials of waterproof fiber.Because of the poor spinnability, modified bamboo/ramie yarns cann’t knit on circularknitting machine. In this part, modified bamboo/bamboo yarns and modifiedbamboo/polyester yarns are applied in rhombic minalo stitch, double-layer fleecy stitch anddouble-rib jacquard stitch. In the knitting processing, the blended yarns are knitted the lining as the waterproof layer to keep the skin dry. The sweat cannot stay in the inner surface offabric, it is absorbed to yarn interior and evaporating quickly. According to《Textile-Evaluation of absorption and quick-drying—Part 1: Method for combination tests》,some tests are carried out, including wicking height, drip diffusion time and area, evaporationrate and time, water vapour transmission. The results showed that: double-rib jacquard fabrichas the best moisture absorption and dry-fast performance, the rhombic minalo fabric haspoorer moisture releasing property and better moisture absorption than double-rib jacquardfabric, double-layer fleecy fabric has the worst moisture absorption and dry-fast ability. Itshows that the waterproof treatment on bamboo pulp fiber can realize the moisture absorptionand dry-fast in fabric. But the performance is also relating with the structure and material.
