Chenlin Street prolongation road project is the accommodation road engineeringof Tianjin Binhai International Airport. It is constructed to meet the demand of thesecond stage project of Binhai International Airport. After its construction, the trafficcongestion in Jinhan highway will be largely alleviated. The road network layout ofDongli district will be improved to accelerate regional comprehensive developmentand construction. The fast getting in and out of the airport from Tianjin city, BinhaiNew Area, and neighboring districts will also be realized. Being a large-scale publicinfrastructure project, this road project will extensively and deeply affect regionalenvironment. Therefore, its environment impact assessment (EIA) study is of greatsignificance. This paper studies the EIA of Chenlin Street prolongation road project. The EIApandect, project overview and pollution sources analysis, existing regionalenvironment quality evaluation, environmental impact prediction and evaluation, andcorresponding environmental protection measures are included. The results indicatethat the construction of Chenlin Street prolongation road project is agree with thegeneral planning of Tianjin city and it also coincides with local transportationconstruction planning. So it is of distinct social and economic benefit. During itsconstruction, there will exist a certain effects on air quality, water resources, acousticenvironment, ecological and social environment. The environmental effects caused byconstruction can be effectively reduced by taking corresponding measures, and mostof these effects will disappear after construction. Duing operation, the effects onnearby environment are resulted mainly from traffic noise. They can be effectivelycontrolled by taking the measures such as installing acoustic ventilation window forenvironmental protection targets and implementing appropriate construction planningalong with the road constructed. The internal noise level of environmental protection targets can thus meet normal use. When the preventing and controlling pollutionmeasures proposed are conscientiously taken, and the national and Tianjin’scorresponding environmental protection regulations, laws, policies and the "ThreeSimultaneities" system are strictly implemented, this project is of environmentalfeasibility for construction.
