Numerical control is the significant technology in modern equipment manufacturing industry. Itsdeveloping level plays a key role in the development and upgrade of manufacturing industry inaeronautics and astronautics. And the interpolation algorithm is the foundation of path control in theCNC system. Smooth performance of high-speed interpolation algorithm can effectively ensure theefficiency and surface processing quality.Supported by the National Science Foundation (No.51175261), according to the issues such asfrequent start and stop, slow operation and poor surface processing quality which occurs in theprocess of traditional interpolation algorithm, the smooth interpolation algorithm of small linesegments is studied in this thesis. Several exiting algorithm of small straight-line algorithm isanalyzed and the main factors that restrict the transfer speed of small line segments are studied in thisthesis. A corner bisector transfer interpolation algorithm is proposed to improve the transfer speed onthis basis. The simplified S-shape Acceleration and Deceleration Algorithm is designed in this thesisto achieve the high-speed and high-precision function of the interpolation algorithm. A look-aheadspeed control strategy is proposed to implement flexible transition in the small line segment andamong small line segments on this basis. Then considering the small line segments process generatedby the CAM software, the least-squares fitting algorithm for NURBS curve is studied in this thesis toreduce the number of process blocks and improve the smoothness of small line segmentsinterpolation.Finally, the simulation verification of the interpolation algorithm is accomplished in theembedded Linux CNC system based on OMAP3530developed independently by our staff room. Thesmooth interpolation of small line segments is realized on the platform.
