The wide application of mechanical mining technology and dense medium separationprocess in coal mining and separation contribute to high content of high ash fine slime in finecoal which makes coal slime separation difficult. Cyclonic micro-bubble flotation column(FCMC) shows remarkable advantages in fine slime separation. However, the problem thatclean coal is contaminated by the entrainment of high ash slime still exists in FCMC separation.In order to further reduce the entrainment of high ash slime, decrease the height of the columnand improve the treatment capacity, parallel inclined plates are adopted in FCMC at the frothzone&collection zone&both froth and collection zone to form novel type flotation columnsnaming FIPC、CIPC and FCIPC.Exploration experiments on these columns were conducted andthe results were compared with that of FCMC, therefore the influence of internal inclined plateson column separation performance was analyzed.According to the results, inclined plates laying at the froth zone helps to reduce clean coalash while that at the collection zone contributes to higher throughput capacity, these advantagesare combined together in FCIPC with inclined plates at both location.Comparing results of thenovel equipment with that of FCMC in separation of coal slime from WangLou coal preparationplant, clean coal ash of the former was1.34%lower, while-0.074mm size fraction showed amore siginificant decrease (2.00%). Meanwhile, high density fraction and high ash ultra-fineslime entrainment in clean coal plunged greatly. Furthermore, equal or better results wasobtained at lower column height with the new equipment while its throughput increased by50%.In conclusion, introduction of inclined plates in a flotation column is benefit for theenhancement of flotation column performance, reduction of gangue slime entrainment toimprove clean coal quality, reduction of column height and improvement of flotation columnthroughput.
