An accurate prediction of the municipal solid waste (MSW) output is of greatimportance. It’s the basis for the comprehensive management of garbage and can helpeffectively control the garbage growth to reduce environmental pollution. Besides, itprovides scientific information for the decision-making to build the MSW removalsystem and strongly affects the planning of waste transfer station. While reasonablesitting of the waste transfer station can improve the efficiency of garbage collection,saving removal and transportation costs. Both of them have important roles inenvironmental sanitation planning.Xi’an city and Xi’an International Trade&Logistics Park was selected as theobject in this paper to study the MSW output forecasting. With the rapid development ofthe Park, large numbers of people will be settled down which will cause a suddenincrease in the MSW output. In the future, their living standards, lifestyles, consumptionand the fuels will be substantially similar to the residents in the main city of Xi’an. Socombining the Park lacking of historical related records, an analogy method is putforward to predicting MSW output. The prediction models this paper used are linerregression model, grey model and exponential smoothing, in the case of all of thempassed the error checking, combinated forecasting model with variable weights isapplied to reduce errors and get the final result: in2020, the annual output of the MSWin the main city of Xi’an will reach3,983,050tons, the garbage produced daily by oneperson is about1.35kg/d, and the daily production of garbage in Xi’an International Trade&Logistics Park is about386.78t/d.After analyzing the principles and related standards of waste transfer station, a siteselection method in Xi’an International Trade&Logistics Park was proposed: thetransshipment volume and scope of services for the new waste transfer stations isdetermined based on the current situation and planning, and the location of wastetransfer station in Xi’an International Trade&Logistics Park is selected with the help ofthe graphical overlay method and the ArcGIS spatial analysis function.
