Study On The Treatment Of Acid Gas In COG

The removed acid gas from coke oven gas mainly comprises hydrogensulfide, so improper treatment will cause serious equipment corrosion andenvironmental pollution. ManagingThat how to treat this acid gas in an economicand environmental-friendly way is a common problem faced by various cokingenterprises. In tThis paper, the treatment methods for the acid-gas of vacuumpotash desulfurization of COG in the Third COG Recovery Plant of ShanxiCoking Co., Ltd. were investigated. The results are as follows:1. The actual situation of the current operating acid gas treatment facilitieswas checked and analyzed. The possibility of choosing a new economic andenvironmental-friendly acid gas treatment process route based on thetounderstand whether the existing acid gas treatment facilities were discussed.canbe based on to choose a new economic and environmental-friendly acid gastreatment process route. After research, the ‘Klaus acid gas treatment process’ ischosen to treat the acid gas from vacuum potash desulfurization unit in the ThirdCOG Recovery Plant for production of sulfur.2. Based on the to-be-treated acid gas amounts and its compositions, thispaper carried out a process calculation of this Claus sulfur recovery unit, andascertained a reasonable unit scale and process configuration, etc.. It focused onthe sulfur catalyst selection and sulfur tail gas treatment, ultimately forming a setof Claus process suitable for our company, which uses two levels of Klaus acidgas treatment for production of sulfur and sulfur tail gas hydrogenation while thetreated sulfur tail gas is sent back to the negative pressure system of coke ovenwaste-gas after being cooled.3. After operation, a test was underwent and the related data was collectedand analyzed. It shows that this technology effectively resolves the acid gas andtail gas treatment problem in our company, and the sulfur recovery rate reachsabove95%, sulfur emissions would be also able to return to negative pressuresystem of coke oven waste-gas smoothly, so the desired effect is achived. In short,this process is a economic and environmental-friendly acid gas treatment processand can be promoted widely in coking industry.
