Condition based maintenance (CBM) has emerged as a hot area of recentequipment maintenance research and is recognized with its wide prospects and highefficiency. At the same time, the trend that cement equipment is becoming larger andmore complex has put forward higher requirement for cement equipment maintenance.Cement producing companies need to seek a new type of maintenance mode to get ridof the currently using regular maintenance mode to improve efficiency.Under the background mentioned above and the school-enterprise cooperationproject Monitoring and fault diagnosing technique for the key components in NSPcement production line, the paper first reviews the relating theory of condition basedmaintenance and cement equipment maintenance needs and then focus on theapplication of CMB theory in cement equipment maintenance, the following threeresearch works are explored:(1) condition evaluation method research for cement equipment: in conjunctionwith the characteristics of the cement equipment, four method combined with thespecific device are discussed including: technical parameters assessment method, thescoring method, the running time evaluating method and the fuzzy state assessmentmethod. And the final method is described in details.(2) maintenance decision making approach research for cement equipment: twodifferent decision making approaches for different kinds of equipment are developedincluding the interrupt priority approach which takes the CPU interrupt processingmethod as reference and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation approach which isdescribed in detail.(3) CBM system design for cement equipment: on the basis of equipment operatingcondition evaluation research and maintenance decision making approach research, apreliminary website for cement company users including inspectors, experts,maintenance staff and administrators is designed with software of Visual WebDeveloper,MATLAB, SQL Server database and ASP.NET technology.Appling the CBM management system can effectively reduce the number ofdevices temporary stop, reduce equipment downtime and equipment maintenanceexpenses, and it is also believed that the research can provide some reference for cementproducing companies to maintain continuous safer and more efficient production, thuscontributing to improve the company competitiveness.
