Many research efforts on cyclone performance optimization have already been done for many years and a lot of experience and conclusions were obtained. In order to improve the efficiency of the cyclone separator, the structure of cyclone is improved on the basis of analysis of traditional cyclone internal flow field. In comparisons with the two turbulence equations, the RNG K-s turbulence equation and simple algorithms on staggered grid were used. By analyzing the results of the numerical simulation of the improved cyclone, the study found that:1. The internal flow field of improved cyclone was well distributed and the number of internal vortex is small and the affected area is small also. The center low pressure columnar area basically remained near the Z-axis deviations.2. The regularity of the flow field is obvious, particularly in the cross-sectional direction and the longitudinal direction. Homologous turbulent kinetic energy is obvious.3. The separation efficiency of the fine particles of improved cyclone separator is increased and separation time is shortened. The effective separation for particulate matter is ensured in accordance with the particle size distribution.
