The Public Furniture Design Under The Perspective Of Behavioral Research On Urban Leisure Square

Urban leisure square is an important place in citizen’s life, in which public furniture is a contact interface s to interact square space with users. Public furniture design is an important role to the utilization of the square, use behavior norms, use of valence, etc. In this paper, in line with respect to the user, the observation and analysis of urban leisure square public furniture usage scenario are search from the perspective of behavior research. The author analysis the interaction between the public furniture and the people in city leisure square, and record the field observation data, which in order to give the public furniture design evaluation guidance of the existing urban leisure square, and make design practices.Based on the field observation, recreation behavior as the research object, guided by the environmental behavior, design psychology, using behavioral research investigation method, analysis of citizen behavior characteristics of leisure in the square, and explore the leisure demand (including potential demand). According to the photos of the scene statistics, this paper sums up four kinds of the most main use behavior of urban public furniture on leisure square, including traffic behavior, rest behavior, watch the behavior and the behavior of the play. Then according to the content and procedure of public furniture design, using the method of reference environmental behavior theory and compared the actual observation record, the design principles of public furniture design elements under various behavior characteristics are analyzed. In the end, the study selected two target-oriented cases:sails square and lotus square in Changsha city, to do the behavior observation with time continuity. For the Sail square, comparison and analysis of the study of the behavior are done and design evaluations and design suggestions are gave. For the lotus square, the behavior models are analyzed and the design based on that are made. These two design practices has proved that behavior has a great significance on establish design evaluation, put forward design suggestions and establish design scheme about the public furniture design on leisure square of city.The author hope that the exploration in the perspective of behavior research about the public furniture design on the urban public leisure square can contribute to the development of the theory system about public furniture design, and look forward to arose the attention of the designer on behavior research.
