With the development of national economy and national defense construction in ourcountry, electric power, shipbuilding, aerospace, metallurgy, military and other fields to beprecisely machined parts,such as wheel hydraulic, compressor rotor, aviation parts, allkinds of box are more and more, floor type boring and milling machining center has anirreplaceable role in the processing of this kind heavy parts, the ram as a core componentof the type boring and milling machine, its bending deformation problem has been animportant factor influencing the floor type boring and milling machining center accuracyand machining performance, but also the machine tool manufacturers face a pressingproblem, and thus the analysis is very important on ram deflection error, compensation ofthe deformation error for improving machine tool accuracy which has the importantengineering research significance and application value.In this paper, based on the theory of numerical simulation and bending deformation,simulation and experimental study on the ram deflection error compensation wereproceeded. The main work included:Firstly, this paper reviewed the background and significance of the topic and researchstatus at home and abroad, and proposed the use of numerical simulation and experimentalstudy of a combination of method to ram deflection compensation feasible and reasonable,and provided a basis for the subsequent research work.Secondly, the use of three-dimensional software SolidEdge and finite elementanalysis software ANSYS Workbench established a solid model and a finite element modelof the ram, and then we carried on the static analysis for deformation of the ram, therelationship curves between the ram different elongation and sagging deformation wereobtained. At the same time, the modal analysis was carried out on the ram, the ram’sinherent frequency and vibration type were obtained, and verified the rationality of the ramstructure; then we studied the milling process at different cutting conditions for the deformation of the ram, and relationship between the deformation of the ram and stroke ofthe ram were obtained at the heavy load cutting conditions.Finally, based on the results of numerical simulation, we established the relationshipbetween compensation value of pull rod and elongation of the ram. The relevantexperimental study was carried on, through comparison of the results of experimental andtheoretical analysis which realized ram deflection compensation.Research showed that, this paper was having significant effect on the deflectioncompensation for the ram, and provided the theoretical basis and guidance of engineeringapplication for the ram deformation problem.
