At present, Distribution Control System (DCS) has been widely applied amongvarious trades and occupations, such as in the fields of electric power, petroleum,chemical industry, metallurgy, drugs manufacture, environmental protection and so on,and has achieved remarkable economic and social benefits. The basic principle of DCS isdistributed control, centralized operation, classified management, flexible allotment andconvenient configuration. Along with the rapid development of computer,telecommunication and network technology and fierce competition between various DCSmanufacturers, the price of DCS’s software and hardware gradually declined with itsreliability continuously improved, which has laid solid foundation for DCS to enlarge itsmarket share.This paper focuses on the application and debugging of DCS which is based onFlue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) of coal-fired power plant to carry on research work.This paper also does research and analysis on the basic principle of FGD in coal-firedpower plant and the theory of limestone-gypsum wet FGD technology. After analyzingand comparing the present mainstream control system and taking the actual situation ofthe power plant into consideration, this paper finally chooses DCS as the control systemof desulfurization. This paper interprets the overall control strategy of desulfurizationsystem and designs the data collection and Data Acquisition System (DAS) of thedesulfurization as well as Modulating Control System (MCS), Sequence Control System(SCS) and the main protection of interlock system. Focusing on the complex and badpracticing environment of the field application, the paper designs a reliable controlsystem. Unit debugging, partial system debugging, a debugging of complete set and168h of desulfurization system are provided to briefly introduce the debugging ofdesulfurization, and the main problems and solutions of the desulfurization system incommissioning process are introduced too.During the whole set commissioning and its practical application, desulfurizationsystem of Zhang Shan Power Plant in Shanxi Province passes the test of all kinds ofloads and operation conditions, whose main systems can operate in the normal, stableand continuous way. During the process of operation, DCS makes the operating creweasy to control different parameters, which makes sure the stable operation of its own system. The whole process of operation tests and verifies the reliability and the stabilityof DCS.
