Along with the advance of technology of the iron and steel industry,thedevelopment direction of the steel production process is compact, continuous, efficientand environmentally friendly.The characteristic of large investment,high energyconsumption and long process, the development of blast furnace smelting is restricted.In order to overcome these defects of blast furnace process and reduce carbon dioxideemissions. This article aims to research carbon-containing pellets with the baiyunoboiron ore concentrate using the rich hydrogen gas by smelt reduction. Through theexploration of the characteristics and rules of direct reduction of the baiyunobo iron oreconcentrate.It will provide the theoretical basis for the smelt reduction technology of theBayunobo iron ore in the future.In the experiments of smelt reduction of carbon-containing pellets of the Bayunoboiron ore concentrate, the method of orthogonal experiment was used to study theinfluence of carbon content(C/O), alkalinity(R), and reaction atmosphere(H2/CO) for thesmelt reduction process.The results showed that:(1) the H2/CO has a greatest effect on thesoftening temperature interval of baiyunobo niobium concentrate pellets in the process ofsmelting reduction, with the increase of H2/CO makes softening temperature intervalgradually narrowed, when the H2/CO is1.2the beginning softening temperature is960℃,the softening temperature interval is180℃;(2) with the increase of alkalinity, the gaspermeability of baiyunobo niobium concentrate pellets in the process of smelting reductionincreases;(3) the influence of all factors on the change rule of Nb, P in iron and slag inproper order: alkalinity(R)> carbon content(C/O)> H2/CO. The results showed that whenalkalinity is0.91, C/O is1.1and the H2/CO is1.2,[P] in the molten iron is0.56%, Nb2O5inthe slag is2.28%so that niobium recovery can reach89.52%. The smelting reduction ofbaiyunobo niobium ore with rich hydrogen is beneficial to remove phosphorus and iron andtoget rich niobiumslag. The structural form changes of molten drop content were analyzed using scanningelectron microscope and energy spectrum,in the process of smelting reduction.Iron ore isreduced to tiny iron. Carbon adjacent to the slag are not involved in the reaction,andsome slag bond in tiny iron.the samples are analyzed using energy spectrum. theconclusions that slag mainly contain2CaO·SiO2,coal and coke,the iron content is relativelylow.theresultsshowthat carbon-containing pellets are reduced fully.
