Han traditional costume culture is an important part of Han culture. Luxi County hasrelatively isolated environment and distinct population distribution that includes more than sixminorities. For this reason, Han people in Luxi County inherits traditional culture, absorbs thefeatures of different minorities at the same time during the evolution of Chinese history, finallyforms a unique Han culture which could distinguish with those of other peoples. Costume is thesymbol which can demonstrate this phenomenon. However, facing the fashion shock, traditionalcostumes are fading. We must pay close attention to Han traditional costume, then research it,which plays an indispensable role in protecting and inheriting traditional costume.The main survey method of research in this article is field work. Gathering and analyzing thefirst-hand information from field work is the main job of the thesis paper writing. This paperbegins with a description of the common styles of Han traditional costume (includes shape,pattern, color), and then compares it with the costumes of surrounding minorities in order todiscover similarities and differences. The theory of symbolic meaning and human studies areused in this paper for digging into cultural connotations. Meanwhile, effective measures forprotecting Han traditional costume are put forward to help to improve the serious presentsituation and solve some problems.
