Twin-screw extruder is an intermeshing extrusion machinery and equipment. Inrecent years, twin-screw extruder with its excellent processing performance has beenmore widely used. Transmission is an important part of a twin-screw extruder. Itsmain feature is to require higher torque output, we must also bear large axial load. Butthe optimal design of the various components is limited the two-screw center distance. So studies on the transmission system will be more stringent. This paper describes the history, current situation and future development of thetwin-screw extruder and its transmission at home and abroad and compares thetransmission programs and the gear-box`arrangement of the transmission, at thepresent. The transmission of twin-screw extruder we has known with the previoustransmission to be contrasted, then we can draw its strengths and weaknesses and tooptimize the design. After, the gears are to be optimization design which are in the transmission basedon MATLAB. We choose the objective function, determine the design variables andidentify the constraints and the final is outcome of the programming. Our results isthat the speed of the output has been improved and the volume of the reducer bycomparing various parameters before and after optimization. Then, the paper mainlyinvolves other parts`detailed design and selection in the transmission. It includes thedesign of the portion of the shafts, the selection of the thrust bearing, and the severalconnections between the output shaft and the screw. We have chosen a moreappropriate connection. Finally, gear6, the input shaft Ⅰ and the output A is to befinite element analysis in ABAQUS software, and we draw their stress clouds anddisplacement clouds. Then we analyze the results of the finite element analysis andidentify shortcomings and make reasonable improvements to better improvetransmission performance and increase its life. This paper studies a drive system of a two-screw extruder. Our demand is toincrease the speed of the output shaft, but the carrying capacity of the transmissionsystem can not decrease. I hope that this article has a certain reference for the designand analysis of the similar protects.
