Manganese is an important strategic metal that has several industrial used, for steel production, non-ferrous alloys, carbon-zinc batteries and some chemical reagents. As the saying goes" No Manganese No steel" the maximum use of the manganese is refining high fierce steel in industry.Getting a ton of products there will be about3tons manganese residue in the blast furnace FeMn smelting industry. The production of manganese residue is almost1million a year in China. Usually the manganese residue will be placed or discarded in rivers. It on one hand increased the enterprise piled up the waste land requisition and ground treatment and other expenses; on the other hand the waste residue long term store, leading some harmful elements through the soil seepage, into the surface and groundwater, affect groundwater resources and siltation of river, the serious influence environment. Therefore, manganese residue recycling, for environmental protection recycling, conservation of resources and energy, has the important meaning of the economic and social significance.XRF, XRD, SEM used to character ferromanganese alloy residue. Examine the main composition and mineralogical compositions of the residue. The analysis results show that10%to20%manganese of quality exist in the residue, among which mainly contain silicon, magnesium, calcium, iron, aluminum and other impurities, manganese sulfide, ardennite, manganese iron mainly existed in the residue, and ferromanganese alloy is mainly packed in the oxidation silicon and silicon manganese stone.In this paper, the acid leaching dissolution manganese experimental conditions was be improved for optimization, hydrocarbonylation of dissolution, the method under pressure and high temperature, and the improvement of the method were used to dissolve manganese, contrasting with the blank trial analysis the quantity of manganese in slag dissolve and the gel phenomenon of reaction process. The results show that the use of the three methods improved the dissolution rate of manganese. The dissolution rate is different between85%and90%of different type of manganese residue. Hydrocarbonylation of dissolution method had a bit low dissolution rate and gel phenomenon was appeared, the method under pressure and high temperature was a high dissolution rate method, but gel phenomenon was quite obvious, the improvement of the method experiment greatly reduces the gel produce in manganese residue dissolution process.
