Chlorine is a highly toxic chemical. It is usually stored at low temperature and highpressure conditions at liquid state in the steel storage tank. The destroy of chlorinetank because of corrosion, external damage and other reasons will lead to leakage ofchlorine which will lead to poisoning accidents, casualties, propertyloss and environmental damage. Therefore, carrying out research processof chlorine leakage accident has important theoretical value and practical significanceof scientific prevention of leakage of chlorine gas poisoning accident and emergencyrelief guidance.The diffusion of chlorine is a complex process. Through real data of gas diffusiontest on the large field can be collected, the expenditure is huge and the reproducibility ispoor. The applicability of experience model is narrow and the precision can notguarantee the need of engineering. To solve the above problems, the chlorine storagetank as the research object, using the computational fluid dynamics method combined tocarry out the research on numerical simulation of chlorine in different initial conditionsand factors under the influence of the Fluent software, in order to reduce the riskof poisoning of chlorine gas diffusion and puts forward the reasonable suggestion. Inthis paper, the main research work and conclusions are as follows:(1) Domestic and foreign research status and progress of chlorine leakage diffusionare summarized in this paper. The advantages, disadvantages and applying conditions oflarge experimental study, laboratory research and CFD simulation study are analyzedbased on comparing and analyzing diffusion model of heavy gas leakage. CFDnumerical simulation method is adopted to study the regulations of chlorine leakagediffusion in this paper.(2) The3D model of chlorine gas diffusion is established according to the actualscene of chlor-alkali workshop in chemical industry enterprises. The diffusion processof chlorine gas in open space is calculated based on CFD method by using Fluent14.0.The regulations of chlorine leakage diffusion process which are affected by wind speed,leakage location, terrain and other factors are studied.(3) Death area, serious injury area, minor injuries area and suction reaction area ofchlorine leakage diffusion are divided combining with the calculation results, toxic doseresponse index by adopting the poisoning accidents quantitative calculation method. The risk of receptor which is exposed to the risk in specific risk field is characterized byindividual risk and social risk which determines whether the risk can be accepted as thebasis. Reasonable emergency evacuation measures and emergency rescue suggestionsare proposed according to the evaluation indexes.
