The Research On The Effect Factors Of Residential Green Traveling Behavior Of Large And Middle Scale Cities

With the rapid Urbanization in China, transport issues have been highlighted and need to be solved urgently. Sustainable development of urban transportation is listed as an important part of sustainable development; the development of transport not only brings convenience to the daily life of residents, but also increased environmental pollution and the irrational use of resources. Therefore it becomes a top priority to promote green travel sustainability of urban transport. However, Chinese urban green travel is in infancy and needs further promotion.Resident individual psychology, the environmental environment and personal characteristics are important factors that influence and control travel behavior. We can take effective means to guide and develop green travel behavior of residents only when we have a comprehensive understanding of the factors effecting on green travel behavior, then we are able to clarify their mutual relations and handle the law of the residents travel behavior.This dissertation analyzes and identifies factors impacting urban resident’s travelling behavior. The influencing path and strength of the factors on behavior are also studied, and a theoretical framework about resident’s traveling behavior is developed. Based on these analyses and findings, some suggestions are provided for municipal governments to understand the status quo and influencing factors of resident s’travelling behavior in China, to make relevant policies and rules, and also to implement these program. The main contents and results of study are as follows:(1) Based on the literature review and expert interviews considering the characteristics of China cities, this dissertation develops a theoretical framework of resident travelling behavior with the Theory of Planned Behavior and ABC theory as basis. Then the influencing factors are identified personal factors and environmental factors.(2) Based on the theoretical framework of resident behavior, this dissertation develops a questionnaire to collect data and use empirical analysis do data statistical.(3) This dissertation analyzes affecting factors,behavioral intention, behavioral and demographic variables with SPSS. The results showed that:China’s urban green travel behavior factors divided personal and environmental factors, personal factors, including environmental attitude, subjective norm, and knowledge of the environment, environmental factors, including transportation facilities, policies and regulations as well as public awareness, they impact the behavior in different way. But gender, education and household income causes differences in green travel behavior. (4) The personal factors will be introduced as a mediating variable models tested, it shows to play an intermediary role in the impact of environmental factors on behavioral intentions in the process.This dissertation made a comprehensive summary and deep analysis of urban green travel behavior factors, and use empirical methods to quantitative analysis the relationship and influence, which provides an analysis tool and theoretical reference for promoting residents to implement green travel behavior.
