Since30years’ development of the reforming and opening up, Wuhan hasbecome the center of Central Plains economic circle and it plays a decisiverole in its development. But the problem of construction waste is becoming more andmore serious in recent years and constantly threats the air quality of its citizens’ livingenvironment. In2013, Wuhan encountered the most severe haze weather in thehistory, turning "Jiang cheng" into the "Fog city". This phenomenon deeply influencespeople’s life, study and work. Under this background, it is highly necessaryto study the relationship between the growth of construction waste in Wuhan andthe changes of local air quality, which provides theoretical basis for making decisions.Based on the existing research results of domestic and foreign and the presentsituation of Wuhan, this thesis builds two sets of effective time series data of thefloor space of buildings under construction and the annual concentrationofPM10from1994to2013. It analyzes the relationship between the constructionwaste in Wuhan city and its air quality, and exerts the co-integration test, the errorcorrection, and the Granger causality test to the data of construction industry growthand air quality index. The results indicate that the construction waste growth in Wuhanis the Granger cause to the bad air quality index and it has a certain degree of influenceon air quality index. It further discusses the Granger causality relationship betweenconstruction waste and air quality during the period from1994to2013in Wuhan, and puts forward some suggestions for each participant of the constructionindustry to find the solutions to respond to and deal with construction waste under theinfluence of air quality in Wuhan city under the tone of circular economy.
