Numerical control(NC) rotary table, as an important accessory of the machine toolproduction, it will directly affect the whole processing performance of the machine tool.Modern NC rotary table require high torque and high-precision positioning until zerospeed, while requiring higher dynamic stiffness and static stiffness. In a variety of NCrotary table, the traditional way is usually driven rotary motor plus turbo, worm gearand the gear mechanism. Due to the presence of mechanical transmission chain, it willresult in slow motion response, the dynamic stiffness of the poor and other non-linearerror. It is difficult to achieve high precision machining. Adopting torque motortechnology, servo drive system eliminates the intermediate links, with a thrust, fastresponse and high precision positioning. But in recent years, with the development oftechnology, servo system is more complex. With the nonlinear parameter uncertainties,nonmodeled dynamic characteristics, sensor dynamics and external load disturbance,the requirements of the accuracy, stability and robustness of the control system are morehigh. The system’s complexity and the performance requirements lead to the sharpcontradiction.This paper is based on the turntable servo system as the research background, inview of the existing system, mechanical friction disturbance and parameter uncertaintyfactors such as the sliding mode variable structure controller is designed, so that thesystem is controlled effectively and achieve good performance. This paper first analyzesthe mathematical model of servo system of the NC rotary table, based on this model todesign a sliding mode variable structure controller based on pole assignment, thecomputer simulation results show that, the controller can control system effectively toachieve good control effect. In order to further weaken the chattering of sliding modevariable structure is, the intelligent control and sliding mode variable structurecombines respectively designed a variable structure controller and the adaptive fuzzysliding mode variable structure controller fuzzy sliding mode. The computer simulationresults show that, the intelligent control and sliding mode variable structure controllercombination model which can effectively weaken the chattering of variable structure, which makes the system control effect is further enhanced. Through the above threegroups of simulation comparison, the sliding mode variable structure control caneffectively control the nonlinear and uncertainty system, and by combining withintelligent control can further weaken the chattering of variable structure control effectis better.
