The petrochemical wharf tank zone is a chemical-concentration site which possesseslarge number of hazard installations. In recent years, the large scale of chemical production, coupled with transportation and storage size increasing, together result in the growing numberof hazards of dangerous chemicals. Considering the poisonous, flammable and explosivecharacter, dangerous chemicals are quite possible to cause accident which will lead todisastrous consequences. Only to take effective control measures for these hazard installations, could we achieve intrinsically safe in practice. A good way to prevent accident caused bydangerous chemicals is to apply classify management to chemical hazard installations whichhave been identified. Therefore, it is essential to take an effective, rapid and accurate methodto classify them. But due to the particularity of petrochemical industrial, traditionalclassification method could no longer adjust to tank zone hazard installations which change innumber real-timely. So, on the basis of analyzing the character of petrochemical wharf hazardinstallations, this paper firstly choose DT method to be the mathematic model after comparingexisting classification methods. Secondly, a classification index system is constructed fromview of consequence and process, then AHP is applied to weighting15parameters involved inthis system. Finally, grading standard is discussed by analyzing error function, realizing bothnumber and standard are changing in the same time described in dynamic classificationtheory. This paper also developed a storage tank zone hazard dynamic classification systemaddressed in LabVIEW virtual instrument. This system could simulate accident consequence, caused by tank leakage, and calculated11indexes instead of manual work. ICI/MONDmethod was introduced to work out4technic indexes and finally, relative risk levels amongtanks were output to realize classification by simulating the process of cluster analysis of DT.The application of this system on a certain wharf shows that these hazard installations couldbe divided into5levels, which acrylonitrile is in the1st level, epoxypropae belongs to the2ndlevel, styrene and ethyl acetate are in the3rd level, phenol and dichloromethane are possessesthe4th and5th level, respectively.
