As petrochemical enterprises auxiliary production facilities, storage tank zones store a large amount of materials in order to ensure continuity of production. Most kinds of these materials are combustible and explosive. If leaks occur, accidents of fires and/or explosions can arise in this storage tank zone. The accidents occurred in storage tank zones may have a simultaneous impact on other tanks, and not only disrupt continuity of production, but also attended with great loss of life, environmental contamination, huge asset damage. In addition, the tank zones are also a domino effect-prone region, based on reasonably arranged storage tanks, the petrochemical enterprise risk management can be improved. In this dissertation, four steps classical quantitative risk assessment were combined with standards for layout of the storage tank zone and design of the storage tank, a quantitative risk assessment process of the risk of a domino effect in the storage tank zone was proposed.First of all, domestic and foreign reference materials were collected and analyzed and then the definition of the domino effects on the storage tank zone, origin and causes of domino effect, materials most frequently involved in domino effect, and domino sequences were determined. Secondly, the initial accident patterns in the storage tank zone by ETA were determined, and combined with the consequence analysis model of the initial accident patterns to calculate the consequences of accidents. Thirdly, whether the energy of the initial accident reach to the escalation threshold criteria or not was determined. Then the mode and the consequences and the probability of escalation accident were determined. Finally, through loss of life and property damage model to calculate the domino accident lose, an example was analyzed and calculated in order to verify the model proposed in the paper.
