Face gear drive, as a new type of complex curved surface gear transmission, hasachieved the spur gear and bevel gear meshing directly. Because it is insensitive to the axialerror, the characteristics of no axial force, and under the condition of high speed and heavyloading showed the advantages of small volume, light weight, high reliability, making itstand out in the fierce competition. In recent years, the accuracy requirements of the oppositegear are gradually improving, and the face gear grinding technology is not mature and becomea bottleneck restricting the development of face gear. Currently, the device of face geargrinding mainly developed by foreign companies, under its technical blockade, and hightechnology and maintenance costs. Processing equipment of domestic use is difficult to meetthe requirements of face gear grinding. Therefore, the study across the gear tooth grinding testtechnology become the key problem urgently to be solved in development of domestic facegear, which can provide reference to the research of complex curved surface gear grindingtechnology.This topic according to the need of face gear grinding technology, researched from theprinciple of processing, test bench setup and grinding experiment and testing evaluation, etc.Firstly, through the research of gear slotting machining method, developed face gear toothsurface point calculation program, through the output point cloud into UG in fitting the way toachieve the creation of theory model. Designed to determine the method of the involute platewheel grinding surface gear machining, the grinding tooth surface equation is deduced, whichprovides a theoretical basis for the whole test process. Secondly, the initial model of6axis5linkage grinding test rig is established based on the complexity of the tooth surface grinding,using ABAQUS to the main components of test-bed carrying out modal analysis of themulti-structure in order to improve the first-order natural frequency of the structure for thepurpose of optimizing the structure components, based on the results of modal analysis,complete test rig parts structure design, configuration of the control system, building surfacegear grinding test rig. Finally, based on VERICUT software, simulation platform of CNCgrinding was built, the procedures of grinding for processing samples are written, completedthe simulation experiment on numerical control simulation platform, from the tooth profile ofgrinding to verify the rationality of the program, finished the grinding sample processing,compared measurement of tooth surface point after grinding with the precision of thetheoretical model, the feasibility and correctness of the test method of grinding was verified.Face gear grinding test method is discussed in this paper, as face gear slotting machiningfor theoretical support, grinding test rig was set up by using the method of modal analysis ofthe structural optimization, on the basis of constructing numerical control simulation platform,and writing grinding program, surface gear grinding test was finished. through the detectionof tooth surfaces and precision evaluation of the specimens after grinding, the feasibility of the face gear grinding technology was verified. The study of complex curved surface grindingtechnology provides a valuable reference.
