At present, many countries jade plants have conducted a lot of research andimprovement about polishing technology of jade,and proposed a variety of polishingtechnologies used for jade polish, mainly including mechanical polishing, mechanicalchemical polishing, chemical polishing (acid polishing) and vibration polishing, etc. Thesemethods’ common peoblems are poor working conditions, jade surface is easycontaminated and produced microcracks after polished, multiple factors are difficult tocontrol in polishing process, and many other deficiencies. For problems of conventionalpolishing method, the subject adopts the non-contact polishing method of plasma arc topolish jade surface, in order to seek out a better way to jade polished. This article firstlyabtained knowledge and understanding about the magnetic-thermo coupled properties ofplasma arc through the magnetic-coupled properties experiment, and then on the basis ofanalysis to choice suitable process parameters conducted the jade polishing experimentstudy.1. According to the characteristics of plasma arc heat source, selecting reasonableheat source model and using the finite element software (Ansys) carried on the numericalsimulation analysis on temperature field of polishing jade, abtained the temperaturedistribution of jade surface and internal, and the temperature of each point on the surface ofjade the effects of growth factors are analyzed, last provided a reference basis for polishingexperiment parameter selection.2. Digital tesla meter was used to measure the axial and radial self-generatedmagnetic field intensity and magnetic field direction in the single factor was changedbetween current and the gas flow. This article contacted the analysis of the plasma arcspontaneous magnetic field with the change of parameters and gived a reasonable externalmagnetic field distribution of the plasma arc.3. Using infrared thermometer measured the temperature of workpiece surface centerplace after boot10seconds in the single factor was changed between current and the gasflow, and under the condition of invariable in additional magnetic field forms measured thetemperature of workpiece surface center place after boot10seconds in the single factor waschanged between current and the gas flow. Through anasysis of the measurement dataabtained the temperature of the plasma arc of the relationship about the the self-generated magnetic field and external magnetic field, and gived a analysis on the magnetic-thermocoupled properties of plasma arc.4. In this paper,a plasma arc jade polishing experiments was implemented, the jadematerial removal mechanism was analyzed and the influence of process parameters,suchas the current, gas flow rate, and different magnetic field forms,on surface roughness andthe influence law have been studied and analyzed.
