In the process of gasification deposited ash particle and slag flow on the wall seriously affect the safe operation of the gasifier. The prediction of slagging is important for optimization of the coal type and operating conditions in the gasifier. This paper focuses on the movement of ash particle deposited particle and the flow of the slag layer.A model has been developed to describe flow characteristics of the slag. The model incorporated two submodels for particle and the slag flow. It also took into consideration of the change of slag properties with temperature.This model predicted the thickness of molten and solid slag layers as well as average slag velocity.By the slag layer model,this paper simulated ash particle deposition and the flow of slag layer in Texaco gasifier. The results showed that there was no solid slag formed in the gasifier dome, mainly molten slag, the flow of slag layer flowed smoothly and the flowvelocity increased sharply in the slag mouth. Also this paper studied the effect of model parameters on the slag gasifier simulation. The results showed that the temperature of ash critical viscosity(Tcv) influenced the slag greatly, We had little effect on numerical simulation. Finally this paper discussed the effects of operating conditions on particle deposition and the slag flow,such as oxygen to carbon ratio, operating temperature, gasifier capacity, coal and so on.Simulation results showed that:the larger the ratio oxygen to carbon, the thinner the slag layer, the faster slag flow; the lower furnace temperature, the thicker slag layer, even solid slag; the larger the gasiifier capacity, the thinner and the slag layer; the coal which the slag viscosity with temperature changed slowly gave better performance. The results of these simulations can provide an important theoretical guide to design and operation of gasification.
