Experimental research on electron detachment of negative ions in collision with gases can supply data for the theoretical study of electron correlation, the experimental data could also be necessary for flame chemistry, ionosphere physics, astrophysics and plasma physics. In this dissertation the experimental study is carried out which focus on the single-electron detachment of transition elements-negative ions incident on argon, and a empirical scaling equation is obtained with analyzing the available experimental data. This work mainly contains three parts:Ⅰ,After Improving the experimental set-up and the data capture system, the ion beam becomes more stability, and the intensity of the ions larger than before. Besides, use the improved data capture system,it saves three or more hours for us to get the experimental data.Ⅱ,The experimental system is based on the improved position sensitive detection system, the single electron detachment (SED) cross sections are obtained for Ti-,Fe-,Co-,Ni-,Cu-, Ir-, Ag-,Au- in collision with argon by using the growth-rate method from 5keV to 30keV.Ⅲ,By fitting our experimental data and available experimental data from others, we find some empirical equations to scale the SED cross sections for dif-ferent negative ions incident on argon. And it still need to be analyzed deeply.
