Intelligent Transportation Image Recognition System

Modern management methods are needed to administer traffic on account of the economical development and the speedup of urbanization and motorization,which begets the research on intelligent traffic image recognition.In this paper,an image recognition system used for traffic management is discussed indetails. Image difference operation is applied to video images taken with image capture device,then statistical computation is performed to judge whether there is vehicle violating the regulations,and corresponding measures are taken. The algorithm for automatically recognizing numbers on the cards of vehicles is ulteriorly expatiated on the basis of above descriptions. Experimental results show that the system realizes automatic movement detection and vehicle card recognition.The hardware buildup and software buildup is presented. The hardware system consists of image sensor and image capture card. The software system includes algorithms for movement detection,vehicle card orientation and character recognition.The further betterment is also discussed.
