The era in which we live has been described as the age of information orefinding in terms of mineral exploration.New exploring, testing and information-treating technologies give support to the quantitative orefinding.GIS, as a spatial-information-treating technology, is widely used in treating and analyzing geodata. The emphasis was put on How to use GIS in prospecting blind deposits(or orebody) in the depth or about a mine in the research. Firstly, the methods were given to how to conduct characteristic analysis of the information about the given area which was selected as an example;then the methods and steps to integrating the data of multisource were studied; The rules of selecting an applied mathematical model were discussed.;And then a mathematical model was established for the given area. Based on the research done before an applied GIS for larg-scaled minerals prospecting was developed with advanced tool. Lastly, the developed system was proved good through field-test.The following achievements have been made by studying information related to the sample area.1 .The methods and technologies were given to how to introduce GIS into the positioning prospecting of blind deposits(or orebody) in the depth or about a mine. Therefore a powerful tool are provided for quantification and informatization of the positioning prospecting of blind deposits(or orebody).2.The method to how to conduct characteristic analysis of information from multiple sources was put forward. The solid foundation has been set for prospective successive research.3.A solution to integrating information from different variables and multiple sources was delivered. The ways ,methods and contents of integrating information from multiple sources were discussed4.A applied mathematical model was put up which was fit for the given example and similar conditions.5.Abiding by the two rules of code and data being separate and also spatial data and attribute data being separate, making use ofobject-oriented method, an applied GIS for larg-scaled minerals prospecting was developed and realized with the COM and mixed programming technology.
