The M14 is a monosomic addition line of Beta corolliflora in Beta vulgaris (VV, 2n=18) which consists of 19 chromosomes (VV+1C, 2n=19). In order to investigate whether there exists specific expression at the stage of flowering in the M14, mRNA was extracted from collected samples. cDNA fragments were generated by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The cDNA fragment were separated on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) and subjected to reverse Northern blot hybridization following sequenced. The cDNA fragment sequences were compared with data in GenBank using basic local alignment search tool (blast). Our preliminary results showed that four cDNA fragments were specific expression in the stage of flowing in the M14 in comparison to B. vulgaris with 18 chromosomes. The four cDNA fragment were 456, 278, 517 and 371 base pairs, respectively. These fragments could be for further investigation of specific expression genes in the hybrid M14.
