Pda Control Total Station Mapping Mode

The science and technology of surveying and mapping is one of the important subjects in building digital earth, digital region and digital city. Collection of large-scale spatial data mostly depends on manual surveying on ground. Study of high efficient and fast digital surveying has important theory and practice meanings.With the development of science and technology, a powerful technical support for digital surveying is provided by GPS receiver, total-station instrument, computer and some special software. Modern surveying and mapping has being converted from manual simulation to digital, intellectualized and automatic model. In fact, computer should be used for field digital surveying, but it is difficult to common use for the limited conditions as electricity provided, field circumstance and climate situation. New type of PDA has the features of small cubic and light weight, and its operation system is Windows. If suitable mapping software is developed successfully, PDA can replace computer and control the GPS receiver or total station instrument to work as the requirements.The main task of this paper is studying and solving the application of digital surveying using PDA in field. The main contents are as below.1. Aim at the procedure of common surveying, the problem between outdoor and indoor jobs is analyzed in detail, then a developing base is determined and the function of the system is put forward.2. Total station instrument and PDA can be used for data collection and data processing in field surveying. Some problems about connection and communication are discussed between them. PDA is developed as an electronic recorder for traverse and detail measurement.3. Build-in compiling based on Visual Studio 2005 for PDA is adopted, and a test system on PDA is realized.The system can control total station instrument in surveying. It also can process data and map. Obviously, this can effectively combine indoor job with outdoor job, and promote the efficiency of common field surveying. This system has very important significance in practice.
