Peru is a country rich in mineral resources. After inspecting and analyzing the existing success in metallogenic prediction at home and abroad, combing with Peru's southern iron ore prediction project,we discussed the application of geology, aeromagnetic and remote sensing three methods in iron ore target area forecast systematically.The regular procession of the aeromagnetic data, including extracting the total magnetic field values T in the South of Peru, calculating the magnetic anomaly DT,blocking and splicing the study area,as well as some simple profile inversion.We did some processes by the ModelVison8.0 software:reduce to the mangnetic pole,upward continuation, the horizontal first derivative in different direction and the vertical first and second derivative processing. After the processing we analyzed the aeromagnetic anomaly maps, drawed the tectonic zone,and found that aclose the coastal there are two large North West anomaly zones,and some bands in other direction exist in some local area,and the distribution is consistent with the geological map. Meanwhile,we extrcted the oxide and arcilla information in remote sensing image,got more information of the mineral composition in study area.Proceeding from the above two conditions, combined with detailed stratigraphic and rock ore distribution, study the two typical iron ores in southern Peru—the Morrito iron ore and the Marcona iron ore,extracted and analyzed the aeromagnetic features and mineralization and alteration information of the remote sensing image, combined with the mining area of geological background, summarizing late magmatic hydrothermal fluid penetration of iron ore and metasomatic hydrothermal (skarn) iron ore.According to the the similar analogy principle, apply the two metallogenic regularity to find some exception district which have the same geological environment and similar magnetic anomaly and remote sensing exception information with Marcona and Morrito iron ore.In the project we circled some target areas and did some site inspection to the two instances,and verify the accuracy of the mineralization. Therefore, we can apply this rule to circle new target forecast areas, and find more iron ore resources.
