| This research focuses on the technology development in determination of coal seam gas content. This thesis presents the principal, results, and application of using a new method and for measuring the desorptable and residual gas content. The laboratory determination of coal seam gas content was conducted using WHK-I rapid desorption apparatus. After analyzing the factors affecting the accuracy of results, the essay brings forward measures to improve the accuracy. In order to improve the measuring accuracy for gas content, a large amount of research work were leaned to measure the residual gas content. By analyzing the test results, the research was endeavored relationships between residual gas content and coal particle size, gas content and coal rank, residual gas content and seam exposure, residual gas content and the desorption gas content in coal seam.To validate the accuracy of the new method for determination of coal seam gas content, measuring of gas content using field collected coal samples and comparison of laboratory and field data were performed as well. The result shows that the newly developed method of measuring the desorption and residual gas content using WHK-I quick measuring equipment produced excellent accuracy and reliability. |
