Application of controlled atmosphere heat treatment has been the strategic goal of China’s development heat treatment for a long time, up to now it has been the key problems of China heat treatment. Metal was processed in the controlled atmosphere heat treatment, it can not only avoid the oxidation loss, saving a lot of metal materials and making smooth surface or bright, but also can prevent decarburization, to ensure the mechanical properties of the parts and prolong the service life of machine parts. application of controlled atmosphere can also realize gas carburizing and carbonitriding of steel parts surface that was controlled by carbon concentration In the chemical heat treatment, to improving Contact Fatigue Properties of between carburizing and carbonitriding. In addition, the controlled atmosphere can effectively carry out the soft nitriding treatment to improve the wear resistance of parts.In this paper, we take a company gear carburizing treatment as the background. We introduces the application of controlled atmosphere technology status at home and abroad, analyzes the process and the composition of the controlled atmosphere rotary hearth furnace control system, gives the general design scheme of distributed control system of controlled atmosphere rotary hearth furnace. The lower machine takes Siemens S7-300 PLC as a central controller for the controlled atmosphere rotary hearth furnace system for real time control system, which guarantees the reliability and safety of equipment control. PC using the Siemens MP277 touch screen, we developed the system monitor and display interface using the configuration software WinCC flexible 2008, making it more convenient for operation and monitor. We can complete design, control program, development, debugging work and monitoring system for controlled atmosphere rotary hearth furnace control system based on Siemens S7-300 series programmable controller. HMI can complete real-time control, process monitoring, data processing and alarm functions of control system for controlled atmosphere rotary hearth furnace. The control system works well after months of cold test and fieldwork, and each function meets the design requirements. Now the project has passed the acceptance, and operating safely at the scene of the equipment.
