The water content of crude oil is an important parameter in the petrochemical industry, an accurate measurement of the water content of crude oil has played a very important role in the use of oil exploitation.Based on the water content of crude oil as the background, consulted the literature at home and abroad, the state of crude oil water detection research is discussed in this paper and the methods of water content of detection. A method of measurement of the dielectric constant is presented based on microwave measuring principle. The water content of the mixture is calculated according to the relationship between the equivalent dielectric constant. Simulations and experiments are carried out to show the validity of the method. The main work and results in this paper are as follows:1. The methods for measuring the water content and dielectric basic parameters are introduced. Based on microwave measurement principle, the microwave resonant method and the standing wave method measuring the dielectric constant are analyzed. According to the antenna resonance theory, a method for dielectric constant measurement is put forward and used for the water content detection.2. HFSS simulation software is used to build four models, the different dielectric constant of the resonant frequency antenna are analyzed, due to the water content is direct ratio to the dielectric constant and the results show that: with the increase of dielectric constant, the resonant frequency of the antenna moves to low frequency, the water content and the antenna resonant frequency has the relations of index attenuation.3. According to the microwave measuring principle, four test systems are designed, three mediums of cotton material, sand, oil were tested. The results show that: the water content and the antenna resonant frequency has the monotone relations.4. Considering the practicality of field test, the test antenna was improved and was verified by the simulation and test. The results show that simulation results are consistent with the experimental results.
