At present, due to the requirements of environmental protection and resource recycling needs, the tailings from the major concentrator must be stored central y, and the storage location is general y further. Especially in the mountain heights with less area, its tailings storage location is selected in the more distant depression or increasingly higher mountain. With the development of economy, the increase in demand for raw materials and its prices continue to rise, which we used to think that no worth mining of low grade deposits also became mining objects.Therefore, China metal urgical mine tailings were built more higher and further, and the tailings transportation has been put forward higher requirements. But now the biggest flow of one water isolated pump is only 500—600m3/h, and its maximum lift is about 400 m. For large-scale mining, the flow of one single pump is too smal. People need to run multiple water isolated pumps, and this resulted in that the workshops covered a large proportion and its maintenance were inconvenient. So there is an urgent need to develop a large flow water isolated pump. When the water isolated pump flow rate increases, the reliability of water valve operation will directly affect the safe operation of the water isolated pump. But the current study of water valve theory and experimental verification are not systematic, especially lack of related research on the opening characteristic. Certainly its pros and cons of opening characteristics directly affect the overall performance of water isolated pump system, even affect the security and stability of the pipeline system.So this paper studied on the opening character of water valve in the LSGB 1000/64 water isolated pump which based on previous research results of the high-pressure water valve. Firstly, this paper designed the structure of the water valve in the LSGB 1000/64 water isolated pump in order to meet the structure requirements of water valve after the flow rate of the water isolated pump increased. Secondly, this paper designed pilot operated unloading valve in the valve core part in order to reduce the vibration problem caused by energy released when the water valve opens. Then this paper did the debugging to determine the best opening time of the water valve. And this paper did the optimization design for the valve body. This paper used the finite element soft to import the three-dimensional model and constrained the boundary, then applied the stress to do the finite element statics analysis. The most important thing is to watch the effective stress and strain in finite deformation, and the result indicated that the difference between the maximum stress and material al owable stress was too large. This paper optimized the wall thickness of the valve body to save material and reduce costs. Finally, this paper studied on valve stem by the finite element analysis and strength check to avoid that the valve stem fracture under the alternating pressure in moment when the water valve opens. The result indicated that the valve stem meet the requirement under the alternating pressure.
