At present, the traditional pipeline detection methods due to its principle of factors led to the face many technical problems. Biologists has proposed the active electrolocation method by use of simulating the weakly fish generating field underwater and sensing the objects in surroundings, which can realize that the objects can be located in fluid environment. In the paper, on the basis of active electrolocation method,we proposed a new approach to detecting partial blockage and leak pipe to solve the problem in traditional detection method. The subject is composed mainly of four parts:1. The active electrolocation method is a new method which is firstly applied to pipeline detection. In order to demonstrate the feasibility to apply the pipeline detection,we briefly analyzed the principle of active electrolocation pipe detection method, and we constructed the 2D model and emulated by Maxwell 15.0. The emulating object includes the currently used materials such as PVC and seamless steel pipe’s partial blockage and leak detection. The emulating results shows that the active electrolocation pipe detection method can capture the characteristic signal which is generated by partial blockage and leak spot and realizes positioning the location. The emulation shows that the active electrolocation pipe detecting method can detect the partial blockage and leak spot in metallic and non-metallic pipe.2. The experimental detector has been designed based the emulation, meanwhile,we accomplished the relevant equipments’ modification finally. It ensures the experimental system can be applied to pipe detection experimental research. The partial blockage and leak detection in PVC and seamless steel pipe has been experimented in3001?S cm?? fresh water conditions. The pipeline detection experiment is using differing electric characteristics materials(brass pipe and Plexiglas pipe) in comparison experiment. The experimental results shows that the active electrolocation pipe detection method realizes the partial blockage and leak detection in metallic and non-metallic pipe.3. To test this detection method’s performance under soil, the method is tested under the soil. Moreover, as a key factor for the active electroloaction pipe detection method, conductivity of transporting media in the pipe plays an essential role. In order to observe this factor’s affect, this method has been tested in different conditions. Thetesting findings show that this method also captures the characteristic signal and positioning its location.4. Finally, we proposed a positioning algorithm based on this experiment research to realize the blockage and leak spot’s position. This thesis has proposed the active electrolocation pipe detection method which can apply to detect the partial blockage and leak in PVC and seamless pipe. We constructed an experimental system which can be applied to pipe detection. The pipe partial blockage and leak detection experiment has been accomplished and the it realize locate the position of partial blockage and leak spot. However, this method provides a new detecting approach to locate the blockage and leak. Moreover, this method overcomes some technical problems in traditional pipeline detection method.
