Socket-spanner is a widely used tool and it usually has polygonal socket, such as hex socket, square socket and so on, so it’s difficult to be produced by traditional machining method. Warm extrusion is a common plastic processing method, producing the sock-spanner by warm extrusion can improve the plasticity of materials and decrease the oxidation of the workpiece, but because of the warm extrusion technics, the quality of the sock-spanner produced by our country is terrible and the life of the extrusion die is low, so the research of the sock-spanner warm extrusion technics is very important.The theory of plastic deformation and plastic processing simulation technology was combined in this thesis, the research of the sock-spanner warm extrusion technics as follows:According to the structure and dimension of the sock-spanner, the upper-lower punch extrusion method was chose and the extrusion mold was designed in the thesis.The extrusion process of the sock-spanner process was simulated by the FEA software Deform-3D, the workpiece’s temperature field, metal flow, stress field, damage and the punch’s temperature field, stress field were researched and the causes of the temperature field, stress field, damage and the extrusion force were discussed.This thesis on the basis of the sock-spanner extrusion process, the extrusion process under different punch shape, different extrusion temperature, different extrusion velocity, different friction was simulated and the influence of punch shape, extrusion temperature, extrusion velocity and friction to the sock-spanner extrusion technics were discussed, the thesis determined the best punch is tapered top punch, the best extrusion temperature is 750℃, the best extrusion velocity is 15mm/s.The best technological parameters were obtained by researching on the influence of the different parameters to the extrusion process, the thesis provided an important reference for the actual production.
