Ball mill, as the main equipment of concentrator, plays an important role in the whole process of mineral selection. The grinding process on control level and effect will directly affects the quality of the mine grinding product, and then impacts the economic benefit of concentrator. The mill load is an important parameter of grinding process. Can the mill work in the best of mill load state directly affect the efficiency of grinding and the economic benefits of the ore dressing plant. However, the abrasion resistance, particle size, mill liner wear degree and other parameters of ore are extremely easy to change. It causes the shift of optimal operating point concerning the mill load.Therefore, it is difficult to achieve the good effect of automatic control.The present situation of ore grinding process control technology both at home and abroad is briefly described in the research. In addition, the historical data of grinding process were analyzed and calculated by drawing lessons from the experience of experts.Finally, the relationship between mill load and processing under different ratio of material was provided. What’s more, the OPC client was designed. It realized the data transmission between the OPC client and the WINCC, and the data was stored in the database of SQL 2005. On the basis of dynamic optimization algorithm and fuzzy control theory, the ball mill load was controlled. In the meantime, Visual C++ language was considered as the development tool to design and realize the expert control system concerning mill load. Besides, its framework which aims to achieve automatic optimization control of mill load was constructed as well.By analyzing the mill operating characteristics and mill load, the mill load control algorithm which based on optimization expert control was put forward. It is possible to achieve optimal load state automatically and quickly in the circumstance of continuous changes about grinding process parameters. Finally, the economic benefits were increased on the premise of ensuring product quality. At the same time, the production efficiency of ore grinding process was also improved.
