With the development of virtual reality technology, virtual assembly technology has been widely used. Virtual assembly is to create a three-dimensional mathematical geometric model which is Intuitive visualization and looks like a true prototype on the computer, namely the virtual prototype. In the virtual environment, the user can simulate the virtual product model assembled, check the assembly interference, and analyze the performance of the product assembly. There will inevitably be the case that the cable designed does not meet the requirements in the course of the cabling. At this point, it is necessary to detect the interference site through the interference detection module and modify the cable model.Therefore, in the virtual assembly environment, cable interference detection is an integral part to check the reasonableness of cabling.Based on the research done, related technologies on the cable interference detection module has been studied. Cable interference detection in virtual reality environment has been basically realized on WTK platform,which laid a foundation for processing planning. The main contributions are as follows:1.achieve accurate detection of cable interference using the minimum distance method. It is necessary for accurate interference detection between the basic elements when the bounding leaf nodes interfere. Accurate cable interference detection was proposed with the minimum distance method between the basic elements, such as the minimum distance of two line segments and the minimum distance between line segment and triangle.And the detailed algorithm for the minimum distance between the common basic elements was given.2.determine the model of bounding box tree. Through the analysis and comparison of the common bounding box, building the OBB of rigid parts and the Capsule bounding box of cable,and the binary tree of the model.3.Cable interference detection.The method how to build the cable capsule bounding box and hierarchical bounding box tree was proposed. And the tightness of the capsule bounding box was computed.Then the cable interference was detected within a certain error range.4.The cable interference detection was verified on the virtual assembly platform built by MFC and WTK.
