Exploration On The Modern Design For Xibe Peoples’ Traditional Costumes

Traditional folk costume is of the reflection of the spiritual of a nation. It can reflect not only the politics, economy and the art and culture, but also the religious belief, totem worship, and historical inheritance of a nation. The folk costume is profound and has a long history. It is the pillar of the national spirit. Every aspect of a nation can be seen from it more or less, as a result, we can see the study of the folk costume of a nation is the only path to the heart of a nation. Xibe is one of the 13 native ethnic groups in Xinjiang province. The culture of Xibe people has changed a lot as a result of the influence of other minorities they have been living with after the west migration, which can be seen from the change of the patterns, colors and clothing materials of their costume. It assimilated the advantages of costume of Han Man Menggu and other peoples, but meanwhile, it still kept the characteristics of its own. With the development of the globalization, it is a great issue to be deeply discussed how to integrate the costume of Xibe peoples into the social environment in high speed development and how to mingle the traditional costume and modern design. Based on the features of modern design, this article analyze the traditional costume of Xibe people and try some creative thinking methods in modern design, hoping to find the feasible way to inherit and carry forward the traditional costume of Xibe. We also explore and analyze the origination of Xibe tribe and its costume, and based on it, analysis of the types and characteristics of costume is also given by the article. Finally, we try to apply the elements of modeling, patterns and colors of the traditional costume into the modern design.
