6016 aluminum alloy is an important material used in automotive industry. It has certain restrictions in use process because of its processing and forming ability. The microstructure of 6016 was discussed during the rolling and heat-treatment process. Thus to improve the comprehensive performance of this alloy to provide reference for industrial production. A series of Al-0.43%Mg-1.18%Si-0.04%Cu alloy was processed after homogenizing annealing and hot-rolling to 6.0mm sheet. Then the alloy was treated by different cold-rolling and heat-treatment process respectively. The paper reserched the evolution of microstructure and texture. The main results are as below:① The texture of HR sample is composed of, three typical rolling textures, Brass, S and Copper. Most grains are elongated along RD direction and formed orientation belt in parallel to the RD direction. There are lots of sub-structures existed in grains.② The texture type of samples after 1st cold-rolling is similar to the HR but the relative amount and density is different. There’s only Cube texture in samples processed intermediate annealing. With the increase of deformation, the amount has risen because of the combination of PSN and cube band nucleation. There are still orientation band in parallel to the RD direction and some sub-structure.③ With the increase of final cold-rolling rate, the Cube and R-cube texture in CR has gradually decrease and eventually disappear but the rolling-texture has significantly increased. After continuous annealing, R/S and Brass-R decreased when Goss increased.④ The roping phenomenon has appeared in the T4P-85 sample but not in T4P-50 which has a lower final cold-rolling rate. The Goss and Cube texture in T4P-85 is more than T4P-50 but the CH texture is less and they all have clustered in ND plane.⑤ When samples in continuous annealing process, the texture type is always Cube and R-Cube. In early CA process, the rolling texture is rapidly disappeared and evolved to Brass-R and R/S; When the CA time is 2min, the texture began to evolved to Cube and R-Cube; After the amount of Cube and R-cube approached the peak value, because of the growing of grains, the density of Cube and R-cube has decreased.
