First the development of cold rolling international is described in the article,then according to Xinsteel cold rolling line’s needs, I study the most important technology-Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) system, discussed the basis principle of automatic gauge control system and control type. According to xinsteel 1550mm five stands cold rolling mill’s thickness automatic control system, studed detailedly thickness control system of cold rolling.The article detail describe Xinsteel cold rolling mill’s the hardware of AGC and the designation of AGC, including the position circle control system、the monitoring control system、the feed forward control system、the feed back control system、the tension control system and various compensation function.In the article it compares with the conventional and advanced mass flow control concept, applying Smith controller technology, with the situation of xinsteel on site, establishing a perfect and the most accuracy thickness control system. According to stand module equation, analysis the influencing factor of thickness accuracy, detailedly study the method of avoiding these influencing factor, including mass flow AGC、gap feed forward AGC、reduction AGC、tension forward AGC、tension monitor AGC.then stud y some process automatic mathematic model, example rolling model、 rolling strategy、rolling program、self learning module and so on.I will base on these control system, use siemens STEP7 software, according the requirement of rolling technology, optimize control program and data, and increase the performence of the control system, to make it more meet rolling requirements.
