In recent years, electrical discharge machining has been widely used in many fields, such as aerospace, mechanical electronics, precision instruments, automotive industry, etc. Electrical discharge machining depends on the discharge energy of the two poles to erode the metal. The environment in the machining gap is complex, and there are many factors that cannot be controlled, especially in the process of micro machining, the state of the discharge gap has a great influence on the processing results. In this paper, a two dimensional numerical model of the discharge channel is established, and the motion of electrons and ions in the discharge channel is simulated by PIC(Particle in Cells). The plasma in the discharge channel is replaced by simulated particle. In the pro cess of simulation, the electron emission emit from the left boundary according to the field emission principle. In the discharge channel, the ions in the discharge channel are constantly generated by the neutral particle collisions. FDTD(Finite Difference Time Domain)method is used to calculate the potential distribution of the space, the force of each particle in the computational domain is calculated by the method of linear difference; particle motion satisfies Newton’s second law equation. In the PIC program, the collision process of particles in the discharge gap is simulated by the Monte Carlo collision. The simulation results shows the phase diagram of electrons and ions in the field, the particle density distribution and the energy distribution of t he particles, and the relationship between the ratio of cathode and anode corrosion in the electric discharge is calculated. The correctness of the PIC-MCC program is verified by comparison with the experimental data. By comparison, the method of plasma simulation can explain many physical phenomena in the process of electrical discharge, the PIC-MCC( Monte Carlo Collision) program can simulate the energy loss of the electrodes.
