As one of the most important part of mineral processing, Grinding determine to grinding's follow-up homework-Selection's result to a great extent. Among a great deal of factor that can affect grinding efficiency, grinding media is of most importance. The size and form of grinding media play a decisive role on grinding media's consumption, the electricity consumption and grinding product's mineral liberation degree. Therefore, How to determine grinding media's size accurately and how to choose grinding media' form that can suit mineral nature become important content of grinding-studying.Since grinding machine be used at industry extensively. People have begun to study how to determine grinding media's size method. Because there is a great amount of nature of mineral, conclusion from one mineral may not be suitable for another kind of mineral. Theorize formula of determining grinding media's size has not derived out so far. Which kind of method should be used for determining grinding media's size seems comparatively important.This thesis set out from professor Duan Xi-xiang's Duan's half-theory formula to determine grinding media's and validate it through experiment. Use its conclusion on Jinchuan group Company's nickel ore' grinding system. Observation of the whole procedure laboratory (include grinding, selection, filter etc.) indicates that: combined with Duan's half-theory formula and law of experiment to determine media size's method has innovation and practicality at theory and practice.
