Grinding is an important process before mineral flotation.In this process,minerals will be subjected to strong mechanical force,and a series of complex redox reactions will occur,which will change the surface properties of minerals and the chemical properties of pulps,and directly affect their flotation effect.In this paper,galena is taken as the research object,and the effect of grinding media on galena flotation behavior is systematically and comprehensively investigated.With the help of adsorption measurement and thermodynamic analysis,the mechanism of collector action on galena surface is studied,and the eliminating methods for the difference of flotation effect of lead ore under different grinding media are also discussed.The effect of grinding media on the chemical properties of galena pulp shows that the chemical properties of galena pulp are closely related to grinding media.The chemical properties of the pulp do not change much when grinding with ceramic medium;grinding with iron medium will lead to the introduction of iron ions into the grinding system.In addition to the self-dissolution of minerals,galvanic couple action will occur,which consumes a large amount of dissolved oxygen and forms a strong reducing atmosphere,resulting in the decrease of dissolved oxygen content and potential of the pulp.The study of the effect of grinding media on the surface properties of galena shows that under the condition of iron grinding,galena undergoes strong mechanical and mechanochemical forces,the surface of minerals is corroded seriously,Fe?OH?3 and FeOOH flocs are formed,and the surface roughness and activity of minerals are increased,which results in a great difference between the surface properties of galena and that of porcelain grinding.The results of flotation test show that under the same reagent system,the flotation effect of galena grinding with ceramic media is better than that of iron media grinding.At the same time,the flotation speed of galena after ceramic medium grinding is faster than that of iron medium grinding,which shows that ceramic medium grinding is more conducive to the rapid flotation of galena.The mechanism analysis shows that butyl xanthate strongly adsorbs on galena surface,but under any conditions,the adsorption amount of butyl xanthate on the surface of galena after ceramic grinding is higher than that on the surface of galena after iron grinding;pH and potential of galena pulp are the direct factors affecting its flotability in flotation.Galena has good flotability in appropriate range of pulp pH and potential.When the pulp pH and potential are too high or too low,corresponding hydrophilic substances will be generated,which is not conducive to flotation.Based on the above research results,two eliminating methods are explored from the physical and chemical aspects:the flocculent covering the mineral surface can be effectively dispersed by ultrasonic cleaning to enhance the flotability of lead ores polluted by iron ions;the flocculent on the mineral surface can be dissolved by adding a certain amount of tartaric acid to the galena grinded by iron medium,thus improving its flotation recovery.
