Oxygen top-blown autothermic smeliting is adapt well to material raw, is a high intensity method of smelting. It's production capacity is strong, and technologic process is short. The autothermic smelting furnace perform reliably and need little investment . The operation of the autothermic smelting furnace and its auxiliary facility is simple. The technology of oxygen top-blown autothermic smelting is a high permance method of nonferrous metals smelting, can make for environmental protection, has expensive developing prospect.It is a typical complex system that autothermic furnace smelts copper , and is a multivirate%nonliner and hysteretic procedure. It is more difficult to build a simulation model based on mathematical theory about thermal engineering and manufacturing process of furnace, and the simulation model usually cann't reflect the real situation accurately. Now, the process control of smelting depends on operators' experience to a high degree.In order to enhance the control level of smelting process and keep autothermic furnace running smoothly, the optimum technical conditions, the thermodynamics of smelting process, material balance and heat balance about furnace are disscused in this paper. A fuzzy controller, constructed with fuzzy logic technology in combination with the experience and knowledge of the operators, using information acquired from existing instrument of autothermic furnace, is studied to try to redjust factors that need to control.The simulation test show that the main controlling targets which were calculated by the fuzzy controller, including grade of blister copper, components of slag and temperatuere, were compared with industrial data and they agree well. We can reach conclusion that the fuzzy controller has high control precision and can effectually control production of autothermic furnace. The design of the fuzzy controller is feasible and reliable.
