In this paper,the present foreign and domestic research on computer digital simulation of casting process is introduced which indicates the difference between our country and the foreign. On the same time, The accordance, purpose , and the meaning about selecting the subject have been analyzed.In the simulation of temperature fields, according to the principle of Heat transfer , the three-dimensional equation of heat conduction is established by using finite difference method; Moreover , the three dimensional finite difference equation of some boundry conditions such as convective , and the the thermal current density was given etc are established according to the principle of energy conservation. In the treatment of the latent heat of fusion, the temperature compensation method and enthalpy method are used.On the basis of temperature field simulation,the G/ R which iscombined with the technology of dynamical division of isolated melting zones is used to predict the shrinkage cavities and porosities during solidfication process; In the predication of hot crack,the hot crack criterion based on rheology model is regarded as the mathematical model to predict the hot crack of casting solidfication.according to the mathematical model of temperature fileds,shrinkage cavities, porosities and the hot crack, the program of computerized simulation is developed using Microsoft Visual C++ 6. 0. and the results of computerized simulationare compared with the experiments which are conformed to actual case basically.Furthermore, a material database including material name, density, isset up and the management program is drawn up using Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 which is very convenient to manage the thermal properties of casting materials.The contents discussed in this paper can provide theoretic foundations to the simulation of temperature fields, the predicaion of shrinkage cavities, porosities and the tendency of hot crack during casting solidfication process. And on the same time the contents have actual and theoretical meaning in improving casting technology .heightening product quality and enhancing economy benefit.
