As the production increased, more requirements and efficiency of casting production have been put forward. However, because of long preproduction cycle and high reject rate, the traditional technology design method could not meet with the requirements of the high quality and highly efficient。The computer simulation of solidification process can ensure castings quality, optimize process design, reduce product trial period and improve the product of the market competitiveness.This article introduces the development of computer simulation technology and made a brief outline of the computer simulation. Detailed introduces the simulation of predicting possible shrinkages and dispersed shrinkages that may appear in solidification process. The using of technology assists the development and design of casting process.The contents discussed in this article supplied some theoretical basis for how to predict the tend of shrinkage and shrink hole during solidification by using computer to simulate the temperature fields during cast's solidification; and could be used as practical reference for enterprises to get a solution for how to adopt computer solidification simulating technology to improve and optimize foundry technology, improve cast quality, shorten trial-producing period of new products, reduce produce cost and improve enterprises' economic beneficial results.
