Based on AutoCAD, a NC automatic programming system for box parts is developed, which is aimed at the machining center. The exploratory work on utilizing the label information of the 2-dimension drawing well to set up the machining characters, automatic process plan and generating the NC code automatically is done.The characters of 2-dimension drawing are analyzed deep for researching the relationship between the graph elements and the dimensions. Then, in order to getting the real dimensions of the machining characters, the information of the labels is used to set up the characters. The characters' location dimensions are obtained through calculating the dimension chain. By setting up the dimension chain and checking the dimension synchronously, the value of the unknown loop is obtained.During the course of process planning, the process planning of single character is get firstly, using the strategy table. Then, orders the steps of the whole part. The ordering of the steps in one stabilizing grip is researched, which is a TSP problem. And the genetic algorithm is used to solve it.The format of the process date file is defined. After the artificial process plans, this kind of data file is used to generates NC codes automatically.In the post processing part, the NC codes is generated through exchanging the variables in the code template. The single step cycle in NC code template is divided into three parts: the step initialization, the machining and finishing the step. By this way, the NC codes output are precise and chief.The thesis develops the application software using Visual Basic development tools. And an example is given to show the feasibility and validity of the system.
