With the development of information technology and the formation of the global market, the modern manufacturing industry demand the more higher speed of updating product and the progress of the quality of product. Under the circumstances, the application of the Machining Center has become more popular gradually.So the importance of research of process planning of the Machining Center is shown especially outstanding day after day.The research of the thesis and the prototype system is based on the box parts.The author discussed the rules and-process of the machining process courses on the Machining Center for box parts and brought forward the shape feature method of describling the box-parts .At the same time, the prototype system contain rule-base of matching machining means for a series of shape features and could make sure the machining measures for each machining essential feature. Furthermore, the author probed in the optimization issue of machining work step of the multi-features of box-part under one fixing and set up a mathematics model for optimizing taxis of machining steps.The author had designed and developed the prototype system optimized to machining route on the Machining Center in order to prove the validity of theories and methods . Firstly,the prototype system could produce the whole machining process and make sure the machining process courses on the Machining Center by means of interactive ways of user. Secondly, the prototype system could perform machining measures for machining each essential feature of box-parts and optimize taxis of machining work step by means of the theory of expert system and genetic algorithms . Lastly , the prototype system present the optimization machining process of box-parts on the Machining Center.
