Organotin antifouling will been banned for use in the future .Cuprous oxide has beome the most optimal replacer of organotin compounds gradually, morever there need more cuprous oxide in new type antifouling paints than in traditional antifouling paints. Therefore, the physical and chemical characteristics of cuprous oxide are very important for that antifouling paints exhibit their antifouling capability. In thesis, the preparation and modification of cuprous oxide are studied systematically.Cu2O pigment particles are prepared successfully by using sodium sulfite and hydrazine hydrate as reducing agents. Chemical analysis, X-ray(XRD) and Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) are employed to analyze the composition. Different influencing factors are dicussed separately in different systems.3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate, trimethoxy(vinyl)silane and polyvi nyl alcoholre are employed to improve the lipophilicity of Cu2O particles. The results show: the turn of their capbility in improving lipophilicity is 3-(trimeth oxysilyl)propyl methacrylate>trimethoxy(vinyl)silane >Polyvinyl alcohol. The f actors which influence the modification result of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl met hacrylate are studied systematically. The results show : when the quality of mo difying agent is two percent of Cu2O's, the modifying result is the best; the f aster stiring speed is , the best the modification result is; relatively, the effect of time is lower.usually, the time is controlled in 1h.Meanwhile , the elementary study about coating inorganic silica compound on Cu2O pigmengtary particles are carried out .The contents of silicon in the products which are prepared in different pH are different. The products are analyzed by IR spectroscopy, XRD, transmission electron microscope TEM and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS ). The analytical results prove that the silicon compounds coated on the surface of Cu2O joint Cu2O through chemical bond ,moreover silicon is in the form of amorphous silica .Using the cuprous oxide which are prepared by mysef,the composites of Cuprous oxide and polyanline (Cu2O-PANI) are prepared separately when the mass ratios ofcuprous oxide and aniline monomer are different.When the ratio is 1:2, hollow CU2O/PANI composite which has the similar shape with CU2O used as materials are prepared firstly. Aiming at this phenomenon, detailed studies are carried out. SEIVL TEIvL IR^ XRD and XPS are employed to analyze the composite. The forming mechanism of hollow CU2O/PANI composite is proposed and proved by experiments.
